Maria Firmani

Maria Firmani, of West Chester, PA passed away on September 24, 2026. 

Born in Castelfranci, Italy, in April 1953, Maria carried the warmth of her homeland with her throughout her life. She came to the United States in 1966, bringing with her a spirit that was vibrant, strong, and unmistakably her own. 

Maria lived with grace and intention. She was warm, passionate, intelligent, and always beautifully put together—her vibrant nails, stylish clothes, and radiant personality reflecting the brightness she brought to others. She loved the sun on her face, the joy of tending to her many flowers, and the deep comfort of her family and her dogs, Sofia and Peanut, gathered close. 

Her annual trips back to Castelfranci were her way of staying connected to her roots, her extended family including aunts, uncles and cousins, and the culture that shaped her.

A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Maria was the steady heart of her family—a fighter, a protector, and the one who held everyone together. Her wit, presence, and passion made her unforgettable. Maria earned a degree in accounting, while raising her 2 children, and built a respected career working as an accountant in the real estate field, often known for her sharp mind and dedication. 

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Joseph Firmani; her children, Anthony Firmani and Lisa Maria Keeley; her sister, Filomena Liloia (Giuseppe Liloia); and her brothers, Felice Barbone (Rosemary Barbone), Giovanni Barbone ( Noelle Barbone) and Vincenzo “Enzo” Barbone ( Debbie Barbone). She is preceded in death by her parents, Soccorso Barbone and Lucia Adelina Barbone (Storti); her niece, Adele McHugh; her brother-in‑laws, Omero Zippi and Harry Balkenhol; and her sister‑in‑law, Anna Zippi.May her strength, beauty, and love forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to her Visitation 9:00-11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 30, 2026 and to her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 15 E. Pleasant Grove Rd, West Chester, PA.  Interment SS Peter & Paul Mausoleum.
