Maria Teresa Cancelmo

Maria Teresa Cancelmo, age 61, passed away on August 4th, 2025. She was born on July 11th, 1964, in Bryn Mawr, PA to the late Dr. John B. and Nancy (nee Dalton) Cancelmo. She was the youngest daughter, and fifth born child of their six children. Predeceased by her sister Karen McFadden and brother Michael Cancelmo, she is survived by her siblings Jay Cancelmo, Nancy Burke (Pat) and Matthew Cancelmo (Betsy).

Mia was raised in Devon, PA. A graduate of The Agnes Irwin School in Bryn Mawr in 1983, Mia went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Regis University in Denver in 1988. After graduation, she moved back to Radnor and worked as an assistant bank manager for Commerce Bank for many years. She also spent time living in Exton and working for Fiserv before settling in Wayne for her final years.

Mia was an avid photographer when she was younger. She was a lifelong Philadelphia Flyers fan and loved cheering on Eric Lindros and the ‘Legion of Doom’. She adored Mickey Mouse and everything Disney. Mia and her family enjoyed summers in Avalon, and she also loved spending time with her cousins and nieces and nephews.

Sadly, Mia inherited the genetic neurodegenerative gene that causes Huntington’s Disease. Her battle with HD was difficult, and now she is at peace.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation at 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 West Lancaster Avenue, Wayne PA 19087. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Philly Cure HD, 2815 Edge Hill Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006, or Cancelmo Cousins Fund, 2811 A Ferndale St. HOUSTON, TX 77098 would be greatly appreciated.
