Margery “Geri” Calvarese (née Fisher) September 22, 1946 – May 8, 2026

Margery Calvarese—known lovingly as Geri, J, Jet, and Maggie—passed away peacefully on May 8th, 2026, surrounded by her devoted family, after a courageous three‑year battle with colon cancer.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Louis Calvarese Jr.; her daughters, Gina (John) Monaghan and Andrea “Dink” (Stan) Webb; and her three grandsons, John Francis, Griffin, and Keaton. She also leaves behind her brother, John (Jacque) Fisher and her beloved grand‑pups Gizmo, Lacy, and Joey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jane and William Fisher, and her brother, William “Ward” Fisher.

Born and raised in Chester, PA, Geri later settled in West Chester with her husband and daughters. She was a proud graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Class of 1964, where she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Over the years she worked in customer relations for Scott Paper, Mauger Oil Company, and Capt’n Chucky’s Crab Cake and Specialty Market, bringing her warmth and humor to every interaction.

Geri had a gift for making people feel instantly at ease—first with her infectious smile and quick wit, and then with the kindness, empathy, and generosity that defined her. She loved both playing and watching tennis and held her own on the court well into her 70s. In her words, there was nothing better than “whacking the s%@t out of a tennis ball.”

A passionate gardener, Geri spent countless hours in her wild, ever‑growing gardens. Digging in the dirt was her therapy, and the harder the work, the happier she was. She also had an eye for beauty and character, especially in thrift store treasures. Her home was a constantly evolving canvas—arranged, rearranged, and always infused with her creativity. She was an excellent baker, known especially for her delicious biscotti.

To her grandsons, who lovingly called her Maggie, she was a playmate, teacher, cheerleader, and safe haven. She delighted in board games, backyard baseball, tennis matches, dollar store adventures, helping with homework, and throwing sticks on the junkyard. She taught them to laugh at themselves, not take life too seriously, and to “let it go.”

Throughout her illness, Geri displayed remarkable strength, grace, and humor. She continued to surprise and entertain those around her with her sharp wit and encyclopedic knowledge of random celebrities. Even in the hardest moments, she remained positive and upbeat. Geri embodied the very best qualities—unconditional love, kindness, and boundless generosity. Her presence made life brighter for everyone lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply and profoundly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation 12:00-2:00 PM, Friday May 15, 2026 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382.
