Margaret "Peg" Solomon

Margaret “Peg” Solomon, of Glenolden, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 26, 2025 at the age of 82.

Known to all as Peg, she was born at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital in Darby, PA and was the daughter of the late James and Eleanor (nee Glenn) Larkin.

Peg grew up in Good Shepherd Parish in Southwest Philadelphia where she attended grade school, later graduating from West Catholic High School for Girls in 1961.

Peg was a dedicated cashier for 51 years, starting with A&P when she was 18 years old until her retirement from Super Fresh in 2012. You were never a customer, you were her friend. You were never a co-worker, you were family.

Peg moved from Southwest Philadelphia to Briarcliffe in 1980 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Collingdale for 45 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, bingo, and country line dancing at the Ridley YMCA. Most of all, Peg loved spending every summer at Briarcliffe Swim Club since 1981. Her great-grandchildren loved going to “Gigi’s pool” and her family took comfort in the fact that she passed on Memorial Day, knowing she was definitely headed over to the pool first to check things out.

Margaret was the loving mother of James “Duke” Hand (Diane), Kristine Reagan (Mike), John Hand, Robert Hand (Karen), Kenneth Solomon (Danielle), and Margaret Hand. She was the devoted grandmother of Meghan, Kelsey, James, Katie, Grace, Stephanie, Michael, Alyssa, Julia, Jackson, and Robert. She was also the caring great-grandmother of Carson, Bryson, Julia, Thomas, and Molly. Margaret was predeceased by her brothers, James Larkin, William Larkin, and John Larkin.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Margaret's life beginning with a Viewing on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Little Flower Manor Chapel, 1201 Springfield Road, Darby, PA 19023, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment thereafter at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
