Margaret "Meg" Orr, a devoted mother, cherished wife, and steadfast member of the Upper Darby community, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026. Born on March 24, 1960, Meg's life was marked by her dedication to family, faith, and her beloved hometown.
Meg’s educational journey laid a strong foundation for her lifelong commitment to service and community. She attended St. Joseph's in Collingdale, followed by Archbishop Prendergast High School, and furthered her studies at Keystone Business School. Her professional career reflected her steadfast work ethic; she devoted 20 years to PECO before continuing her service at St. Laurence Catholic Church—a place close to her heart where she was known for always contributing selflessly to the church and its community.
Beyond her career, Meg was perhaps best known as a dedicated mother and her children's greatest advocate. Her unwavering support and love shaped the lives of her sons—Tom Jr., Andrew, and Chris—with whom she shared countless cherished memories. A devoted wife, she was the loving partner of Thomas Orr, and together they nurtured a family that meant the world to her. Meg also found joy and companionship in her grand dog, Harper, and maintained a close bond with her sister, Terry Shields.
Meg was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, embracing the city’s spirit with great enthusiasm. She treasured her trips to the family home in the Villas, moments that brought her happiness and connection to her roots. Her life was also deeply intertwined with St. Laurence Catholic Church in Upper Darby, where her special connection was evident in her constant involvement and contributions, enriching the lives of many within the community.
Meg’s parents, Manus and Anne (née Bulterman) Shields, preceded her in death, leaving a legacy of love and family that she honored throughout her life.
The community is invited to pay their respects during a viewing at Donohue Funeral Home - Upper Darby, located at 8401 W. Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, on April 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Rd., Springfield, PA 19064.
