Margaret C. “Peggy” McGlone (nee McFadden), age 82, of Gulph Mills, PA, passed away on May 4, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Margaret McFadden (nee Oestreich).
Peggy’s life was a tapestry woven with radiant moments of cherished relationships, steadfast faith, and a generous spirit that touched all who knew her. Peggy’s journey began in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, where she graduated from West Catholic High School in 1962. Shortly thereafter, she embarked on a professional path as a switchboard operator, eventually finding a longstanding career with Verizon, from which she retired with pride in 2003. Yet, her true accomplishments were not measured by her work alone but by the warmth and care she bestowed upon her family and countless friends.
Her proudest chapter was undoubtedly the love story that blossomed at the Shamrock on 69th Street in Philadelphia, where she met the love of her life, James McGlone. Their first date was forever marked by James’s thoughtful gift of her inaugural Hummel figurine—a symbol of the tenderness that would define their union. They married on February 17, 1968, and for 56 years, Peggy honored her vows with unwavering devotion, exemplified most movingly through her steadfast care for James during his final illness. Together, they cultivated a deep and abiding love that stood as a testament to enduring commitment.
Peggy was a devoted mother to three daughters—Maureen, Cathy, and Eileen—with whom she shared unique and cherished bonds. Her family grew to include two beloved sons-in-law, Terry and Ted, whom she loved as her own sons. The arrival of her granddaughters, Shae and Brynn, filled her heart with a joy words can scarcely capture. Whether lunching together, shopping for a special dress, or sharing stories of their daily lives, Peggy’s love for her granddaughters was boundless and immensely proud.
Beyond her family, Peggy was a beacon of friendship and kindness. She treasured the friendships she nurtured, regularly gathering with friends and opening her home to those in need. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life; a devout Catholic, she attended weekly Mass without fail and never missed observing the holy days. Even on the day before her passing, she found solace in listening to Mass, a reflection of the deep spiritual grounding that carried her through life’s joys and trials.
Peggy’s presence was a source of light and laughter. She was known for her infectious positive smile, an ever-ready laugh, and her genuine kindness to others. Simple pleasures brought her joy—the savoring of a good espresso martini, lunches with dear friends, and the pleasure of being surrounded by those she loved.
Peggy was the beloved wife of the late James Patrick McGlone; loving mother of Maureen Griffith (Terry), Catherine Wozniak (Theodore), and Eileen McGlone; adoring grandmother of Shae and Brynn Wozniak; caring sister of Betty Jean Ward and the late Patricia, Francis, and James McFadden.
Family and friends are invited to Peggy’s Viewing from 9:00-10:15 AM on Monday, May 11, 2026 at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, 219 Fayette St, Conshohocken, PA 19428, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Villanova, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Little Sisters of the Poor, 5300 Chester Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19143, would be appreciated.
