Margaret Anne "Marge" McCarthy (nee Shannahan), 96, of Springfield, PA, passed away on August 18, 2018.
Born in Cape Broyle, Newfoundland, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Maryann Shannahan (nee Leahy).
Marge was the beloved wife of the late John F. McCarthy. She met him, the love of her life, in Brooklyn, New York. They were married for 52 years before he passed in 2003.
Marge loved her family. She was a fabulous cook and baker. She was a world class story teller. She had a charming personality. Her door was always open and she took care of everyone. She was a devoted Catholic who said the rosary daily and was extremely active at St. Kevin Church.
She was the loving mother of James L. McCarthy, Maryann McCarthy, Regina Porrini (Louis), Colleen Carney (Christopher); caring grandmother of Mary Lisa, Meggie, John, Katie, Erin, Clare; dear great grandmother of Timmy, Julianna, Owen, Alex, Jimmy, Andrew, Scarlett. She is also survived by her siblings in Newfoundland, Canada.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 9:15-11:00 AM Thursday, August 23, 2018, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Kevin Church, 200 W. Sproul Road Springfield, PA. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
