Margaret Eillene King, 96, of Berwyn, PA, died March 23rd, 2023. Margaret was born March 19, 1927, in Hastings, MN to the late Edward and Antoinette (Otte) King.

Margaret obtained her undergraduate degree in music at St. Catherine University in 1950. She met and married the late Robert L. Birman in Saigon in February 1959. They were married for 27 years. While raising six children, she completed a Masters of Art in Music History at West Chester University.

Margaret had a lifelong interest in education. She taught English as a second language abroad as an employee for the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services, and later as a teacher in the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District. She worked as a secretary at Germantown Friends School, and as a secretary and editorial assistant in the History Department at Villanova University. She loved to travel and read, and devoted her life to care for her daughter, Diane.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Gloria (Paul) Kranz, Mary Catherine (Harley) Watson, and Virginia (Herman) Andersen, and a son, Tom Andersen. Margaret is survived by her sister, Edna (Joe) Kimmes; her children, Michael Birman, Mary Birman, Ann Birman, Robert (Siri) Birman, Diane Birman, and Barbara McGuinness; and six grandchildren, Molly, Greg, Sean, Ryan, Megan, and Ben. 

A Catholic service will be held at Donohue Funeral Home in Wayne, PA on April 1, 2023. Viewing from noon to 1:00 pm; service at 1:00 pm. Interment at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery in Hastings, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brian's House, Inc., a local non-profit that provides services for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.  www.brianshouse.org. Arrangements by Donohue Funeral Home in Wayne, PA.
