Margaret Ann Chapman

January 4, 1937 — February 26, 2024

Margaret Ann Chapman, 87, of Williamsport, PA, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2024.

Born on January 4, 1937, in Stillwater, OK, Margaret was the cherished daughter of the late James Edward and Helen Mary (nee Hassebroek) Bullock.

Margaret embarked on an inspiring journey of education, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics and her Master's degree in Child Development from Oklahoma State University in 1960. Her dedication to education led her to serve as a Kindergarten Teacher from 1960 to 1964 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In her role as a homemaker from 1964 to 1978, Margaret's adventurous spirit took her and her beloved husband Harold on a journey across various states, including New Jersey, Texas, and Tennessee, until settling in Williamsport. There, they became successful entrepreneurs, opening Cobbler’s Ladies Shoe Outlet, which thrived until their retirement in 2011.

Margaret was an active member of her community, participating in organizations such as Newcomers, the Women’s Club, and Welcome Wagon. She generously served on the Williamsport Home Board and The First Community Foundation Partnership of Williamsport. Margaret found joy in playing bridge, showcasing her expertise in sewing, and maintaining an active involvement in the First United Methodist Church for over 40 years. And of course, always with love and affection, monitoring Harold’s activities!

Margaret's zest for life was evident in her love for travel. She and Harold explored the world together, with a special fondness for the Caribbean Islands, Hawaii, and their cherished annual family gatherings in Bethany Beach, Delaware, spanning 35 years.

Margaret was the beloved wife of Harold Dean Chapman for 63 years, the loving mother of Kent Chapman (Kerrie), Lynanne Chapman (Nick Schofield), and Heather Mulford (Burt). She adored her grandchildren Claire Jarman, Meredith Chapman, Jordan Mulford, Jackie Mulford, and Colin Mulford. Margaret was a dear sister to Wayne Bullock and is survived by her faithful pup, CeCe. She was predeceased by her brother James Bullock.

The family will hold a private celebration of Margaret's life this summer at her beloved Bethany Beach, followed by a private ceremony in Stillwater, OK.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The First Community Foundation Partnership of PA, 201 W. 4TH Street, Williamsport, PA 17701, or online at https://www.fcfpartnership.org/donate/.

Margaret's legacy of love, generosity, and adventure will forever be cherished by those who knew her. She will always be remembered for her unwavering love for family and friends. A true southern wife and mother, she exuded warmth and hospitality, planning and hosting unforgettable parties throughout her life, enriching the lives of those around her with her genuine kindness and generosity. Margaret's legacy of love, hospitality, and joyful celebrations will forever be remembered by her loved ones, serving as a testament to the remarkable woman she was.
