Louise Hamel

December 23, 1955 — November 3, 2021

Louise Ann Hamel, 65, of Sharon Hill, PA passed away on November 3, 2021. She was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Mary Joan (nee Buckley) Schneider.

Lou will be best remembered for her contagious smile and selfless nature. A lifelong resident of Sharon Hill, she contributed to many facets of the community. She attended Holy Spirit Grammar School and graduated from Sharon Hill High School in 1974. She later earned her Associate's Degree at Widener University. Dedicated and hardworking, she worked in the Records Department for Boeing Helicopters for 38 years before retiring.

Lou had a great pride and a deep love, not only for her family, but for her community. Whether it was coaching CYO sports, leading a Girl Scout troop, or being one of the parents to make Academy Park's first annual "After Prom" happen, she invested her time into making her community a great place to live. She attended Sunday Mass at Holy Spirit Church and made frequent trips to the public library, radiating love everywhere she went. She was known for being a caring friend and a neighbor with a loving spirit.

"Don't invite me unless you mean it, because I show up," was not just her expression, but words she lived by. Lou had a huge heart and the ability to make everyone in her life know they were a priority. It wasn't a birthday until you received her call, waking you up with the enthusiasm of a child on Christmas morning to sing Happy Birthday at the top of her lungs. No one could make you feel more special than Lou. She attended every event and every milestone, not only for her daughters; but also every niece, nephew, and many godchildren. She loved taking people to the Philadelphia Zoo and having them over to scrapbook. She found great joy in helping others document their special memories. Lou also loved to bake. She loved to bake cookies the most. "Baking with LouLou" is a special memory that many of her loved ones share.

A true believer in treating others the way you want to be treated, she never missed out on an opportunity to tell you that you're loved. She took nothing for granted and ended each day with a simple prayer: "Thank you God for everything and everyone. Amen." She passed this prayer onto her grandson, the true light of her life, Jayden Lucus Hamel. He always put a sparkle in her eye. She loved many things, but loved being a grandmother the most.

Lou is survived by her loving daughters Sarah Hamel and Melissa Joan Hamel, her adoring grandsons, Jayden Lucus Hamel & Tyler Fred Johnson, and her wonderful siblings: Mary Pondo (Fred), Charles (Denise), Thomas (Lisa), Barbara, David (Sandra), Billy (Ericka), Edward, and Michael Schneider. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Antoinette and many nieces and nephews. Lou was predeceased by her brother James F. Schneider and his wife Virginia, her brother Robert Schneider, niece Nicole S. Bomberger and ex-husband Stephen Hamel.
