Leonardo Sofia

Leonardo Antonio “Dino” Sofia, age 88, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Born in the town of Novara Di Scilia, in the province of Messina, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria Concetta (née Milici) Sofia.

Dino was a music lover who at one time was a singer in a band and enjoyed performing serenades for the bride and groom at weddings.  Being with family was Dino’s top priority and they were most precious to him.

Dino was the beloved husband of Aurelia (née Truscello) Sofia; the loving father of Maria Sofia Purdy (Kent) and Antonio Luigi Sofia (Rachel); the proud grandfather of Daymond, Isabella, Mason, Luca, Emma, and Sara.  Dino is predeceased by his brothers, Filippo Sofia and Giuseppe Sofia.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing, Monday evening, November 29, 2021, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA  19073, 610-353-6300, and again Tuesday morning, 9:30 – 10:20 AM at Annunciation BVM Church, 401 Brookline Boulevard, Havertown, PA, 19083, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.  Interment SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.  *NOTE:  Family requests that facial masks be worn for all services. *
