Lawrence John Schickram

February 23, 1953 — June 15, 2022

Ocean View, Delaware

Lawrence (Larry) John Schickram, 69, of Ocean View, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on June 15, 2022, after a brave battle with ALS.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of John (Jack) and Barbara (née Hughes) Schickram, who predeceased him. Larry was also preceded in death by his first wife, Cynthia Schickram (née Swisher); his younger brother, Jay Schickram; and his younger sister, Gail Schickram.

He was a graduate of West Chester Henderson High School, class of ‘71, where he was an accomplished soccer player and wrestler, and attended two years at Elizabethtown College. Larry was a very talented carpenter who could fix anything, and enjoyed sharing his craft with his children and grandchildren.

Larry was a member of the Freemasons, served as a township supervisor, had a love for gardening and fishing, enjoyed riding his Harley, and spent many years coaching his sons’ soccer teams.

Retiring in 2017, he was able to enjoy his decades-old dream of RVing across the country to Alaska. Throughout his life, Larry touched the lives of so many people, and was a role model to so many. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, son, nephew, uncle, friend, and the best Pop-Pop. He always liked to say he never met a stranger.

Larry is survived by his wife, Lynne Schickram (née Stetson); his two sons, Andrew (Marianne) Schickram and Devin (Kim) Schickram; his two stepsons Blake Till and Coleman (Chelsea) Till; his sister, Donna (Dale) Renner; his aunt Betty (Dave) Lowery; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
