Kathy Burgess Schauer

Kathy Burgess Schauer, whose life was marked by grace, warmth, and a distinct personal flair, sadly passed away on August 4, 2026 at the age of 74.

Born in Charleston, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Shirley (née Bennett) Burgess.

Throughout her life, Kathy called many places home. She spent a number of years in Big Sky, Colorado, before settling more recently in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Kathy was well known for her signature southern accent, always accompanied by her Starbucks tea in hand and her unmistakable Chanel glasses. She had a great appreciation for art museums, flourishing gardens, and beautiful flowers. She was also a proud member of the Chester County Historical Society.

Kathy possessed an innate talent for creating welcoming spaces and found great satisfaction in interior design, especially for new residential homes.

Holidays and family gatherings were among Kathy's greatest pleasures. She enjoyed curating these moments, ensuring that loved ones felt the beauty and comfort that she so deliberately fostered. Her love for travel took her on many memorable vacations, particularly to Amelia Island, Florida, and Steamboat, Colorado—places she held dear.

Kathy is survived by her loving children, Jon Schauer (Bryn) and Meghan Schauer; her dear grandchild, Noa Schauer; her caring siblings, Beverly Sheehy and Dara Burgess, and her many loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Scott Burgess, and her sister, Karen Burgess.

A Visitation in honor of Kathy will be held at the United Methodist Church of West Chester, located at 129 S High Street, West Chester, Pennsylvania, on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment private.
