Kathleen Carroll Seward, affectionately known as “Kate”, “Kath”, and as her beloved grandchildren knew her “Mika”, age 66, of Newtown Square, PA, formerly Havertown passed away on March 14, 2026. Born in Dallas, TX, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Edward and Mary Patricia Carroll (nee McCloskey).
Once Kate had an empty nest she was called to the noble profession of home caregiving, a vocation through which she exemplified empathy and unwavering commitment to the comfort and well-being of others. Her gentle spirit was a beacon of hope and kindness in the most trying of times. She became family to those she cared for and their immediate family through her generosity and unwavering love.
Kathleen’s passions and endeavors reflected a life beautifully lived and deeply enriched by love and service. For twelve years, she organized an annual golf outing to benefit Bonner and Prendie High School, a heartfelt tribute that raised funds to provide forty-five scholarships in honor of her beloved son, Brendan Seward, whose memory she held dear. This act of generosity not only immortalized Brendan’s spirit but also uplifted generations of young scholars.
Kate’s heart found joy in the simple and lasting pleasures of life. She delighted in her visits to North Wildwood, New Jersey, a place that brought her peace and happiness. Above all, she cherished her role as Mika—the adoring grandmother to six precious grandchildren—finding in their smiles and laughter the truest expressions of love. To Kate, time spent her family was the most precious gift of all.
Kate was the beloved wife of the late Michael William Seward; loving mother of Meghan (Dave Lumpkin), Timothy Seward (Jessica), and the late Brendan Seward; adoring “Mika” of Braden, Keegan, Brinley, Shae, Maeve, and Celia; caring sister of Maureen Grajewski (Bill), Colleen Derham (Kevin), Kevin Carroll (Karen), Sean Carroll, Brian Carroll (Maria), and Timothy Carroll (Melissa). Treasured aunt to many nieces and nephew. Also survived by her best friend of 30 years, Wendy Moran and her co-grandmother, “Mame”. Her memory will be forever carried in the hearts of many.
Family and friends are invited to Kate’s Visitation from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, March 19th and from 9:30-11:00 AM on Friday, March 20th, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Villanova, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Kevin Cain Memorial Foundation, PO Box 536, Havertown, PA 19083, kevincain.org/donate, would be appreciated.
