Kathleen H. Peterson

Kathleen “Kathy” H. Peterson (née Brogan) passed away on April 23, 2026.

Born in the Bronx in 1938, Kathy was the daughter of the late James (Ret. Lt. NYPD) and Margaret “Regina” (Wetherick) Brogan. She lived in New York City until she met the love of her life, Leo Peterson, at “the shore” on Long Beach Island, New Jersey.

After marrying they moved to Upper Darby, PA, specifically into St. Laurence Parish, where the church and school became an important part of her life.

Kathy worked as the school Librarian and also taught CCD to special needs students for many years. Her dedication to St. Laurence Church was unmatched. She was a founding member of the parish’s Pro-Life group as well as the HOPE program providing countless rides to those in need. Her service to others in the parish continued as a Eucharistic Minister where she routinely visited sick members of the parish at Delaware County Memorial Hospital to administer communion to them. On top of all of this she was a regular Lector for Mass and a member of the Alter Society making sure the church was always in tip top shape. She also volunteered for many years at Msgr. Bonner H.S. and at Archbishop Prendergast H.S.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She enjoyed summer trips to the shore where she sat for hours in the sun and traveling the world with Leo. She also loved to take her grandchildren to Disney World and to New York City to show them where she grew up.

Kathy was the beloved wife of the late Leo Peterson; loving mother of Donald (Dyan), James (Diane), Charles, and Margaret Deuber; and devoted grandmother of Shawn Deuber (Jessica), Keith Deuber (Kim), Bryan Deuber (Alyssa), Michael Deuber (Tina), Megan Peterson, Ryan Peterson, Jacqelyn Deuber-Peterson, Peter DePaul, and Brayden Peterson; proud great-grandmother of Vinny, Kai, Riley, Aria, and Peyton. Kathy is also survived by her niece Alice Albers with whom she shared a life-long special bond and her many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother Jimmy, her sisters Dorthy McMahon, Lorraine Malkowski and Vivian Brogan; her beloved daughter-in-law, Tara Peterson; and her son-in-law, John Deuber.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 9:30-10:30 AM Thursday, April 30, 2026 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082. Inurnment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
