Kathleen Murphy

Kathleen Murphy, of Newtown Square, PA, a cherished member of her community, sadly passed away on December 4, 2025, at the age of 70.

Born in Darby, PA, she was the daughter of the late William John and Doris Mae (née Shelley) Murphy. She was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend. She will be deeply missed.

Kathleen graduated in 1980 from Emerson College in Boston with a B.A. in communication disorders and a M.A. in speech therapy. She was Valedictorian for her Masters graduating class. She worked as a speech therapist in Boston and Philadelphia with special needs populations until retiring. Kathy served as president of her condo association since 2018, implementing numerous key enhancements. She was an avid reader of literature and loved art.

Kathy enjoyed socializing with friends and cooking. She is known by her family and friends for making the best Jewish apple cake in the world. She loved attending services and St. Anastasia’s Church, where she was baptized. Christmas services were her favorite.

Kathleen is survived by her loving siblings, Susan Biskeborn (Thomas Richardson), Kevin Murphy, Mary Murphy, and William John Murphy, Jr. (Reginald Baird). She is also survived by her treasured nieces and nephews, Mary Richardson, Valerie Smith (Mack Mor), and Charles Smith; as well as her dear great-niece, Vivian Mor, and great-nephew, Bruce Mor, who brought her great joy in recent years.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor Kathleen’s life at a Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Saturday, December 13, 2025, at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Interment will be held privately.
