Kathleen Theresa McCaffrey

Kathleen Theresa McCaffrey, age 76, of Havertown PA, passed on February 10th, 2023.

Kathleen was the daughter of the late Albert and Nellie (née Barlem) D’Annunzio. Born and raised in West Philadelphia, she attended St. Donato’s Grade School and West Catholic High School where she made lifelong friends and memories. 

She met the love of her life, James Joseph McCaffrey Jr., at an eighth grade dance, and together they would spend more than half a century married. 

Kathleen was the loving mother of Erin McCaffrey, James Joseph McCaffrey III, and Brian John McCaffrey. She was the devoted Doll Doll to Alana Nell and Eamonn Sage.  Kathleen is predeceased by two siblings, Judith Ann Doyle (née Neyer), and Harry Neyer.   Her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in laws, cousins, and all else who called her family were surrounded by her love throughout their lives. 

Kathy never lost touch with her devout Catholic upbringing, but took every opportunity throughout her life to connect with faiths, spiritualities, and cultures around the world that called to her. 

Kathy’s extroverted personality was larger than life, yet she had the ability to nurture and love and show boundless acceptance for everyone she met. Many of her children’s friends throughout their younger years called her their “second mom.”

Kathy was a wonderful friend and would lend her ear to anyone in need. She was consistently charitable in every way imaginable. She nurtured her child-like spirit, allowing her to connect with people of all ages. No one was a stranger to Kathy. 

Kathy was an amazing calligrapher, artist, art appreciator, and lover of all things cultural. She traveled around the world whenever the moment allowed. An unpretentious foodie with an unrivaled ability to explore all cuisines, she never missed an opportunity to taste and cook all that she could. 

She will be very dearly missed as an inspiring, strong, resilient, loving, kind, and caring woman to those who knew her. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Sunday evening, February 19^th, 2023, 6:00-8:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, 19073, 610-353-6300, and on Monday, February 20^th, 2023, 9:30-10:45 AM, at St. John Neumann Church, 380 Highland Lane, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Funeral Mass to be live streamed beginning at 11:00 AM at the following link:  https://sjnparish.org/celebrate/livestream/.  Interment  private.
