Kathleen Marie Fegely

Kathleen (Kay) Marie Fegely, 88, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on January 12th, 2026. She was the second oldest of three sisters and her brother. She graduated from West Catholic Girls’ High School in 1955, where she sang beautifully in the school chorus and participated in plays. Kay worked at Chilton Publishing Company and later became a bookkeeper at a vending company.

She was a loving mother to her five children, whom she raised with a strong sense of accountability and unconditional love. In Kay’s young adulthood, you could find her dancing on the town, ice skating, and roller skating with her friends. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of plants, especially flowers. Family was a priority of Kay’s, which brought her joy to watch over with close care. She was a creative being, making gifts for her grandkids for holidays and crafting in her free time. She studied birds and despised squirrels; Kay was quick-humored, fun, and an open-hearted individual.

Kay is survived by five children: Kenneth, Jr. (Julie) Fegely, Kathleen (Steven) Mecouch, Kristina (William) Taylor, Kimberly (Edward) Kerr, and Kevin (Karen) Fegely. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren—Katelyn (Dylan), Jessica (Matthew), Megan (Garrett), K.C. III, Dane, Colin, Olivia, Lindsey, Spencer, Sarah, and Brendan—as well as her great-grandchild, Landon.

Kay is predeceased by Kenneth Clinton Fegely, her husband of 54 years; her parents, Mary (nee Callahan) and William Whalen; and her four siblings, Miriam Whalen, William Whalen, Eleanor (Robert) Halstead (nee Whalen), and Dolores Whalen.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10:30-11:30 AM Monday, January 19, 2026 at Saints Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
