Kathleen Q. Dempsey, age 94, of Devon and recently South Coventry, PA, passed peacefully at home on May 31, 2025. She was born in Philadelphia to Edward and Catherine Quinn and was the sixth of seven children. She was sister of the late Edward J. Quinn, Mary Q. Monville, Joseph P. Quinn, Donald J. Quinn, Patricia A. Quinn, and her beloved surviving sister, Anne Q. Shervin of Ambler, PA. In her early years, she attended St. Stephen’s School, where she was the May Queen twice. She graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls, an institution she continued to support and hold dear. Kathleen was employed by Philadelphia National Bank where she worked in the Foreign Department. She spent her summers in Sea Isle City, NJ. It is there she met her beloved husband, Martin J. Dempsey (Marty) of 62 years. They raised six children, Denise D. (John) Kane, the late Clare M. (Richard) Wellinghoff, Kathleen D. (Gregory) Woods, Mary C. (Peter) Hayes, Martin J. (Katherine) Dempsey, and Jane D. (Stephen) McLean. Additionally, she was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
Kathleen personified a life well-lived by prioritizing family, being true to herself, and acting with integrity, patience and kindness to all she knew. Her passions included her unwavering faith, gardening, and reading. She loved Sea Isle City, where she and Marty had a home for many years. It was there that they instilled a love and appreciation for the seashore in their children and grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, 10:00-11:00, St. Monica Church, 635 First Ave., Berwyn, PA, followed by her Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM. In celebration of her passion for gardening, you are invited to wear vivid colors.
