Katherine (nee Micka) Helms, of West Chester, formerly of Delaware County, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Julia (nee Still) Micka. She was born in Chester, Delaware County, grew up in Ridley Park and settled in Lansdowne before moving to West Chester in 1961.
Katherine graduated from Notre Dame High School, Moylan, Pennsylvania in 1947. Before marrying, she worked as a payroll clerk for Bell of PA. She was a wonderful stay at home mom to her four children. She enjoyed life! Kitty loved the sun, the beach, eating crabs, gardening, sewing, and more than anything, she loved the Philadelphia Eagles (GO BIRDS!). She also enjoyed music, especially Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Barry Manilow, seeing them many times in concert. She spent time with her husband Bill going on many cruises and wintering in Florida. Her grandchildren meant everything to her. Nothing gave her more joy than spending time with them. Kitty had a fabulous sense of humor. She had a quick wit and could make everyone laugh.
Katherine was the beloved wife of the late William E. Helms Jr.; loving mother to William Helms III (Mary), Patricia Thornton (Don), David Helms (Joan), and Linda Force (Dennis); devoted grandmother to William IV, Jason, Steven, Christopher, Tyler, Maverick and Sierra. She was a great-grandmother of five. She was preceded in death by her brother Albert, her sister Marcella and her faithful dog Bart.
As per her request, there will be no service. A Celebration of Her Life may be held in the future.
Donations may be made in her name to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
