June R. Otten

June R. Otten, age 81 of Odessa, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 9, 2024.

Born in Darby, PA in 1942, June was the daughter of the late John G. and Orah E. (née Walter) Roy.  She was a 1960 graduate of Upper Darby High School, and completed her studies at Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA.  

June worked as a registered nurse at Presbyterian Hospital in West Philadelphia prior to starting a family and later resumed her nursing career at Mercy Hospital in Havertown, PA.  June was a nurturing mother, continually involved in her children’s activities. June loved history and was an active member and docent of the Historic Houses of Odessa Foundation.  Serving the Foundation, June took great pride and joy in conducting educational tours of the Historic Houses of Odessa for visitors, especially young children.  June enjoyed her time with the Women’s Club of Odessa and as a member of the Delaware State Federation of Women’s Clubs where she had served as its president.

June was the loving mother of John Roy Otten (Danielle), and William Walter Otten from her marriage with the late Edgar Dierk Otten; the caring grandmother of Abigail, Andrew, Michael, Jack, and Eleanor; and beloved life partner of Salvator “Sam” Scarpignato.  June is remembered with love by many nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues.  Her caring presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Sunday, April 14, 2024, 1:00 to 2:30 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA  19073, 610-353-6300, followed by her Funeral Service at 2:30 PM.   Interment will be private.
