Julia (Julie) Pavletich (nee Obiedzinski), beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and talented gardener, passed away on September 26, 2024, at the age of 86. A Philadelphia native, Julia grew up in the Juniata neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia. She married the love of her life, Marion (Marty) Pavletich, in 1961, and they moved to Malvern, PA, where they were proud "suburbanites." After a brief chapter in Somers Point, NJ, they found their true home in Exton, PA, where they lived for many years raising their beautiful family and tending to an enviable garden.
Julia’s passion for learning began as a young student of Little Flower High School in Philadelphia (‘55). She went on to attend St. Joseph’s College and pursued a fulfilling career in Human Resources, working for esteemed organizations including Roy F. Weston, SCT, and Dougherty and Associates.
Never able to sit still for too long, Julia dedicated her retirement to sharing her insatiable intellectual curiosity, love of a good book, and her steadfast faith with her local community. She proudly pioneered the first class of OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) where she hosted a popular book club. As a widow in her later years, she also was an active member in the local chapter of Next Step to Live Again. She was a cherished member of the Eaton Village Social Club in Hershey’s Mill, often worked in the Hershey’s Mill library, and was an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
Julia leaves behind her loving children, Theresa Miller (Stan), Tom Pavletich (Beth), Mark Pavletich, and Patrice Flynn (Joe), as well as six wonderful grandchildren: Mark Daniel Pavletich, Samantha Pavletich, Zach Miller, Courtney Coleman (Sean), Kelsey Miller, and Travis Pavletich. She is also survived by her adoring great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Gilmour.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul, located at 1325 Boot Road, West Chester, PA, on October 18, 2024, at 11 AM, followed by a celebratory luncheon. All are welcome to join in honoring Julia’s remarkable life and the joy she brought to those around her. The family asks that you dress in bright colors to represent Julia’s love of flowers, nature, and all that is good in this world.
