Judy Nearhood

Judy Lee Nearhood passed away peacefully at Brandywine Hospital with her family at her side on December 24, 2021. She is survived by her husband, Richard Nearhood; her children Charles, Mary Ellen and Birkley, and Kathleen and Douglas. In addition, she is survived by three grandchildren; John, Katelynne and Christopher and Jael (wife). Her special joy was the birth of her great grandson, who bears her namesake.

Judy was the daughter of the late John (Herman) and Gertrude. She taught elementary education for many years and was beloved by her students. She enjoyed giving back to the community and was involved with her husband, "Rick" in community town watch. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening and fishing at Marsh Creek State Park. Her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren who always wanted to visit “grandma." Judy loved training and showing her Belgian Sheepdogs (Bree, Slate and Blade) at competitions with Rick.
