Judith "Judy" Holt Roberts

Judith “Judy” Holt Roberts, of Glen Mills, PA, formerly of Newtown Square, PA, a cherished educator and beloved member of her community, passed away on May 28, 2025, at the age of 82.

Born in Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis L. and Anne (née Logue) Holt.

Judy was a proud graduate of St. Roberts Grade School in Chester, PA and Notre Dame Catholic Girls High School in Wallingford, PA. She pursued her passion for education with great fervor, by earning her undergraduate degree from West Chester University. Notably, she distinguished herself as a basketball star during her time at West Chester, showcasing her competitive spirit and athletic prowess. She furthered her education by earning her Master’s of Education degree from St. Joseph's University.

As an elementary teacher within the Marple Newtown School district, Judy dedicated her life to nurturing young minds and fostering a love of learning. She was known not just for her teaching abilities but for the warmth and kindness she extended to her students and their families. She brought joy and inspiration to countless children, instilling in them values of curiosity, respect, and perseverance.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Judy was recognized as a founding sponsor of the International Day at Ithan Elementary. This initiative celebrates diversity, culture, and traditions, reflecting Judy’s deep appreciation for community and learning from one another.

In her personal life, Judy was an avid reader, swimmer, tennis player, and enjoyed celebrating her Irish heritage. These activities brought her immense joy and opportunities for camaraderie. She also cherished traveling, with trips to Jamaica and summers at the Jersey Shore holding a special place in her heart. What family and friends and all that knew Judy will remember most was her personality that was marked by a remarkable sense of humor and an enchanting laugh that could uplift the heaviest heart.

Judy was the beloved wife of Peter Roberts for 58 years; the loving mother of Carolyn Roberts (John) Esbenshade of Devon, PA, Peter Christopher (Vicki) Roberts of Wilmington, DE, and the late Jennifer Anne Beltrante. She was the devoted and caring grandmother of Catherine Esbenshade of Devon, PA, John “Jack” Esbenshade of Drexel Hill, PA, Bryce Beltrante of Berwyn, PA, Austin Beltrante of Berwyn, PA, and Ella Roberts of Wilmington, DE. She is also survived by her sisters, Frances Anne McGrody and Mary Louise Antonelli.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor Judy’s life at her Visitation on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held privately.
