Joy Dorothy Sizgorich 1954 - 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joy Dorothy Sizgorich (nee Hoefle), a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Joy entered into Heaven on May 6, 2025, at 70 years old, surrounded by her loving daughters and devoted husband. Known for her radiant smile that could brighten anyone’s day, she brought warmth, laughter, and love to all who knew her – the epitome of her name – “joy”.

Joy was born in 1954 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret Hoefle (nee Douglass). Her father was elated to have a little girl, after having two sons, and decided to name her Joy for the love and happiness she brought into their world.

Her childhood was filled with cherished memories, including summers spent in Wildwood Crest, where she worked at a coffee shop, attended several lifeguard balls, and eventually met the love of her life at the Shamrock Cafe. She fondly returned to Wildwood Crest throughout her life, bringing her children and, eventually, her grandchildren, to experience the joy of the shore.

Joy graduated from George Washington High School, later working at Hershey Medical Center before becoming a dedicated school secretary in Upper Merion Area School District, where she touched many lives with her caring conversations and dedication. Outside of work, Joy found great fulfillment in her role as a Brownie Girl Scout leader, guiding her daughters and their friends with camping trips, arts and crafts, and valuable life lessons. She was also deeply involved in her community, participating in a neighborhood dinner group and Women’s League.

Joy’s greatest pride and joy, however, was her role as Omi. She spent countless hours rocking her grandchildren, reading to them, taking them to the library for story time, and cheering on the sidelines at every special event. She never missed a chance to share their accomplishments and milestones with anyone who would listen. Her heart overflowed with love for them, and her time with them was spent re-telling stories of her youth, baking Christmas cookies, going on shopping trips, and being the best pretend customer in their play kitchen escapades.

Joy had a remarkable ability to make others feel at home. Whether through a holiday meal, a festive themed birthday party, or her endless vault of stories, she had a gift for making people feel seen and loved. Her love knew no bounds, it wasn’t just for people but also for the very best little four-legged friends. She and her husband adopted many dogs over her lifetime, and she could always be found with a dog cuddled up on her lap.

Joy was the beloved wife, for 50 years, of Thomas J. Sizgorich; loving mother of Nicole Stahl and Trisha Strano; caring mother-in-law of Erik Stahl and Jeff Strano; adoring grandmother of Ellie Stahl, Maggie Stahl, Tucker Strano, and Kit Strano; sister of Scott Hoefle and the late Doug Hoefle; devoted daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret Hoefle. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She will be deeply missed but forever loved.
