Joseph Paul Foley

Joseph Paul Foley, born on May 4, 1949, peacefully passed away on April 1, 2026. A devoted family man, skilled craftsman, and dedicated veteran, Joseph lived a life marked by hard work, steadfast loyalty, and heartfelt joy.

Joseph was a proud graduate of West Catholic Boys High. Following his education, he honored his country as an Airman in the Navy, where he specialized in aviation maintenance, support, and operations, skillfully contributing to the demanding environments of flight decks and squadrons. His exemplary service earned him the National Defense Service Medal, a testament to his commitment and dedication.

After his military tenure, Joseph applied his talents as a welder at the Philadelphia Arsenal and subsequently at the Philadelphia Shipyard. His craftsmanship and diligence were valued assets in these important establishments.

Family was the cornerstone of Joseph’s life. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Joanne Foley and Theresa Foley, whose lives he enriched with love and guidance. He also cherished his grandsons, Jackson and Jude, and found great happiness in the companionship of his faithful dogs, Levi and Leo. Joseph’s keen eye for detail was evident not only in his professional life but also in his personal passions. Meticulous about maintaining his lawn, his care extended to keeping it in impeccable condition, which contributed to his well-earned “coloring” or tan. Joseph found great pleasure in listening to oldies music, joyfully singing along to familiar tunes that brought back treasured memories.

He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Theresa A. (née Smith) Foley, his parents, Joseph and Catherine (née Stritch) Foley, and his half-brother, Francis Wetzel. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A viewing will be held on April 8, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 500 Woodlawn Avenue in Collingdale, Pennsylvania. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment private.

Joseph Paul Foley's legacy is one of dedication—to his country, his craft, his family, and the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. He will be remembered with respect and affection by all whose lives he touched.
