Joseph "Joe" N. Maffei

Joseph N. Maffei, 94, passed away peacefully at Wilmington Hospital on October 11 with his family by his side while listening to his beloved Phillies beat the Braves in Game 1. Joe was honorably discharged from the USAF in 1949 after serving a Glider Mechanic in Fort Benning, GA. He returned home where he met his wife Joan to whom he was happily married to for 66 years. Joe worked at Westinghouse for many years while he and his wife raised their only child Joseph Jr. Together their family traveled back and forth between their home and Ocean City Maryland where they spent countless weekends fishing and enjoying the beach.

Joe was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother. When he wasn’t watching a sporting event or favorite TV show on TV you could find him painting or tinkering around his garage and always keeping busy. Joe was a very simple man who enjoyed a trip to the casino to play the slots, watching the horse races or sipping the occasional glass of blueberry wine while doing his scratch off tickets.

While Joe will be missed by all who knew him, we find peace in knowing he is now reunited with his only child Joe Jr and beloved wife Joan where they can live together again happily for eternity.

Joe is survived by his loving granddaughters Jackie Maffei (Jason Ruditys) and Allison Prince (Steve). He was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan, devoted son Joe Jr, parents Constantine Maffei & Louise Saunders and many brothers and sisters.
