Joseph F. Flynn

Joseph F. “Joe” Flynn, age 87, of Upper Darby, PA, formerly of West Philadelphia, PA, passed away on August 13, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Flynn (nee Brady).

Joe devoted his life to serving the community as a bus driver for the Upper Darby School District, touching the lives of countless children and families throughout his storied career. His unwavering commitment to his work was matched only by the pride he took in creating a nurturing home for his family.

Beyond the realms of his career, Joe embraced a plethora of interests that reflected his vibrant spirit. An avid collector, he amassed a treasure trove of coins, stamps, sports memorabilia, and trains, each piece telling a story of passion and meticulous care. His enthusiasm extended to the sport fields, where he was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, sharing in the joy and camaraderie that only sports can provide.

Joe was the beloved husband of Dorothy Flynn (nee Checchio); loving father of Joseph E. Flynn (Pui), Michael Flynn (the late Fran), Linda Page (Chip), Donna Jones (the late Buddy), Karen Pinto, Susan Flynn, and the late Stephen Flynn (Patricia); adoring grandfather of Kevin, Matthew, and Kristen Flynn, Dylan and Jesse Page, Christopher, Nicholas, and Joseph Jones, Kerrilynn Pinto, and Meighan and Stephanie Flynn; caring brother of Gerald Flynn, Marty Flynn(Susan), and the late Terry Flynn and Kevin Flynn.

Family and friends are invited to Joe’s Viewing 9:30-10:45 AM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at St. Bernadette of Lourdes Parish, 1035 Turner Ave, Drexel Hill, PA 19026, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Private.
