Joseph T. Binder

Joseph T. Binder, age 78, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on July 14, 2022.

Born in 1943 in Walnutport, PA, he was the son of the late Francis J. and Mary (née Wolshitch) Binder.  

A proud Villanova graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he was passionate about Villanova basketball, the Phillies, and Eagles. He especially enjoyed going to kids’and grandkids’ sports and watching countless games of basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball, lacrosse, track, swimming, and tennis. He enjoyed playing a round of golf, hand of cards, fishing, crabbing and having a cold beverage with friends and family. 

Joe was very active in the SS Peter and Paul Church community, where he often volunteered his time. He was a devoted member of the Exton Knights of Columbus as a 4^th degree knight. Throughout the years he volunteered his time with Exton Little League and helping his kids with their many projects. There was never a project he turned down as he could build or fix just about anything.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, family was what he enjoyed most and he made it a priority. He treasured the annual beach trips, which he coordinated for the past 40+ years, beginning in Sea Isle City and eventually to the Outer Banks as the family grew. 

Joe was the beloved husband, for 54 years of Judy (née MacMaster) Binder; loving father of Michael (Nici), James (Lisa), John (Karen), Paul (Erin) and Thomas (Rebecca); devoted Pop Pop of Joseph “JP”, Caitlynd, Sydney, Lily, Ella, Jack, Gavin, Samantha, Taylor, Grant, Thomas and Beatrice; dear great Pop Pop of Molly; dear brother of Anne Smith, Greg Binder (Anita). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his sisters; Marie Friedman and Rita Glomb.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, July 22, 2022 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA and to his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Saturday, July 23, 2022 at SS Peter & Paul Church, 1325 Boot Road, West Chester, PA. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester, PA.
