Joseph Patrick Barron, 89, of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 2nd, 2026. Born on June 24, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Joseph was a lifetime resident of Upper Darby. A devoted father, friend, and companion, Joseph raised three sons, Patrick, Michael, and Francis. He was heavily involved in the Boy Scouts for 17 years, resulting in his three sons all achieving the honor of Eagle Scout.

Joseph went to West Catholic High School before getting his associates degree at Philadelphia Wireless Technical Institute. He worked for Dow Jones as an electronic technician service engineer for 28 years as well as the Camera Centre on 69th Street for 30 years part time. He was an active participant in the Veteran Guard 3rd Regiment of Pennsylvania, achieving the rank of Major and serving as both treasurer and photographer archivist for over 50 years. His hobbies included ballroom dancing, biking, yoga, photography, and target shooting. He was happiest when teaching beginners how to ballroom dance, and his motto throughout life was “never had it so good.”

Joseph is survived by his three sons, two grandchildren Edward Barron and Danielle Barron, one great grandchild Elizabeth Barron, and a life partner Odette Botelho. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph F. Barron and his mother Grace Ann Durning.

Family and friends are invited to Joseph’s Visitation on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 12:00-1:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by his Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Boy Scouts of America Cradle of Liberty Council.
