Jonathan Thomas “Jon” Hennessy, age 41, of Morton, PA, passed away surrounded by family on the 15th of October, 2025. Born and raised in Morton, Jonathan grew up in a loving family and had many lasting friendships. He attended OLPH and graduated from Springfield High School in 2002. In his youth he belonged to the Boy Scouts and through his teens he was a swimmer and lifeguard at Aquatic Swim Club. Jonathan went on to receive a multitude of certifications and continued education in fire protection and safety. He had a successful career and made many more friends along the way. Jonathan was an active member of the community, serving in positions of Fire Fighter, Engineer, and Captain with the Morton-Rutledge Fire Company, he was a long standing Table Trap Range Officer at Delaware County Field and Stream, and a valued Trustee and Vice President of the B.O.J.C.-PA Chapter. Throughout his involvement with these organizations, Jonathan exemplified what it means to be truly dedicated and live in service to others.
From a young age Jonathan enjoyed camping, riding four wheelers, vacationing in OCMD, live music, and wreaking a little bit of havoc. Whether it was building the largest igloo in the continental United States or spending nights with family and friends around a backyard fire, Jonathan knew how to have a good time. To have known him is truly a privilege. He lived authentically and brought a sense of humor and matter of fact calmness to any situation. He stood firmly in his convictions and cherished the relationships he had with the people in his life. From family to friends to coworkers and acquaintances alike, Jonathan had a way of creating lasting memories and building a life he valued.
Jonathan was the beloved son of Linda (nee Harley) Hennessy (Mike Gray) and Tom Hennessy (Dawn Kane) and the loving brother of Brian Hennessy (Laura Kennedy). He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins and was predeceased by his grandparents Daniel and Marcella (nee Clardy) Harley and Jack and Concetta (nee Catizone) Hennessy.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects, Wednesday, October 22, 2025, 9:00 to 11:30 AM at OLPH, 2230 Franklin Avenue, Morton, PA 19070, followed by his Funeral Mass, 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Road, Springfield, PA 19064.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jonathan’s memory would be appreciated to the Morton Rutledge Fire Company, 38 Alfa Terrace, Morton, PA, 19070.
