Jon E. Bilhuber December 26, 1956 – May 24, 2025
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Jon Bilhuber, who passed away at his home in Haverford, PA, on May 24, 2025, at the age of 68.
Born in Huntington, New York, Jon was the beloved son of the late Henry and Gloria Bilhuber of Rosemont, PA. He spent his adventurous early childhood on the shores of Long Island Sound, where he first fell in love with sailing and the sea—a passion that remained with him throughout his life.
Jon’s early education at Radnor High School in Radnor, PA sparked a lifelong curiosity and thirst for exploration. Eager to see the world, Jon joined the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Pyne Point MD at the age of 17, followed by service in the U.S. Merchant Marines and the Netherlands Merchant Navy. His years at sea took him around the world, deepening his appreciation for tropical landscapes, rich cultures, and historical wonders.
During his 25-year career in strategic executive placement, Jon specialized in connecting insurance industry executives with firms that aligned with their goals and values. His deep expertise and relationship-driven approach earned the trust of clients and colleagues alike, allowing him to make a lasting, positive impact on countless careers.
A voracious reader, Jon was especially drawn to stories of extraordinary people—whether heroes or rogues—always fascinated by what drove them to greatness. His personal library overflowed with books on naval adventure, military history, and political leadership. He regularly engaged in lively conversations with friends who shared his intellectual passions.
To those who knew him, Jon was larger than life. He was a generous host, famed for his “Brazen Broil” marinade, homemade apple pies, and ceviche. His home was always open to visitors—many of whom became lifelong friends. He had a remarkable way of making things happen, always ready with a helping hand or spontaneous plan.
The most important people in Jon’s life were his wife, Kathleen, whom he adored, and his daughter, Emily, the light of his heart. They shared a zest for life and were a constant source of joy and inspiration. Together, they explored the world, creating many cherished memories from adventures that now live on in their hearts.
Jon leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity, always with a smile.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Bilhuber; his treasured daughter, Emily Bilhuber; his devoted brothers, Jeffrey Bilhuber and Eric Bilhuber; his nieces, Jessi and Jenni Bilhuber and Kim Cochran; nephews Christoph Bilhuber and Mark Cochran; cousin Pamela Blair (Ross Blair) and their children Allison and Gregory Blair.
