John B. Stanley

September 9, 1949 — March 16, 2026

Devon

John B. Stanley, 76 of Devon, PA and formerly of Wayne, PA passed peacefully at Paoli Hospital on March 16th. John’s fighting spirit prevailed until the end, but after a three month battle the toll on his body was just too great. He is survived by his wife Trish, children Spencer Stanley (Lindsey), Nina Casey, grandchildren Capp (16), Mills (13), Alexa (16), sisters Diane Galisin, Donna Pierson and last but not least, Buddy the pooch.

After graduating from Penn State, where he met Trish, he pursued a career as an Industrial Sales Engineer in the Air Compressor business.

Community activities included acting as Judge of Elections at his local polling place, coaching several T.E. Little and Senior League teams and pitching batting practice for his son’s American Legion Baseball team.

For several years he played adult basketball with other ex-jocks at the Deveraux School gym. When he was 50, with his teammates he competed in the Buffalo Master’s Tournament in Buffalo, New York where they won the national 50+ division for two consecutive years.

In later years, spending time with family took center stage. Highlights included many visits to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe to see the grandkids, and trips to New Orleans, France, St. John, Palm Beach and his local favorite, Jim Thorpe.

John and Trish loved entertaining, baseball and good music. In his final days, Trish surrounded John with the sounds of music from many of his favorite performers including Otis Redding, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Buddy Guy and many of those featured in Martin Scorsese’s “The Last Waltz”.

The “big guy” will be greatly missed, loved and remembered. A private service for the family will be followed by a Celebration of Life at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Paoli Hospital Foundation.
