John Harry Peterson, age 90, of Glenolden, PA, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born in Vestal, NY, he was the son of the late John and Verna Deen Peterson (nee Zellers).
Throughout his remarkable 46-year career as the Quality Control Inspector at Connelly Containers Inc., John exhibited unwavering commitment and excellence in all endeavors. His colleagues remember him as a true professional, who always had a sharp eye for detail and a heart of compassion.
A proud graduate of West Catholic High School for Boys Class of 1952, John valued education and continuous learning. His thirst for knowledge was evident in every aspect of his life, enriching not only his own experiences but also inspiring those around him.
Beyond his professional achievements, John found joy and fulfillment in various hobbies and interests. From playing softball well into his seventies to passionately supporting teams like the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Notre Dame and Penn State Football, he embraced the thrill of sports wholeheartedly. His love for country music and Old Western Movies and TV Shows added rich layers to his vibrant personality.
An avid devotee of St. Therese the Little Flower and the Rosary, John's faith was a guiding light that brought comfort to him during times of need. His unwavering devotion to these spiritual practices reflected his profound understanding of compassion and love for his fellow beings.
John was the beloved husband of Rosemary Peterson (nee Kennedy) and loving father of Sr. Rosemary Peterson, IHM, John Peterson (Carmella), and Edward Peterson (Karen). Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to John’s Viewing 9:15-10:15 AM on Saturday, August 3rd at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial Private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s name to Camilla Hall, Infirmary of the Sisters, Servants of Immaculate Heart of Mary, 100 Maxis Dr., Malvern, PA 19355, would be appreciated.
