John Scott Maloney

April 3, 1953 — June 6, 2026

Broomall, PA

John “Scotty” Maloney, of Broomall, PA, passed away on June 6, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 73.

Born in Teaneck, NJ on April 3, 1953, he was the son of the late John and Bette (née Kane) Maloney.

Scotty is survived by the mother of his children, Margaret Maloney; his three loving children, Sean, Greg, and Darcy; his five beloved grandchildren, Sam, Shane, Charlotte, Tommy, and Lucas. He is also remembered by extended family, and dear friends across the United States and Canada, as well as his many work colleagues.

Scotty grew up in the Greenburgh and White Plains sections of New York, and was a proud graduate of Valhalla High School.

Scotty was hardworking, fiercely patriotic, and deeply grateful for his family. He spent 38 loyal years with AT&T, a career that brought him and his family from New York to New Jersey, Washington State, and eventually back to New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. He devoted his life to serving as a lineman where his work was integral to maintaining vital communication infrastructure. Scotty had a lifetime of stories from those years, and he always had a way of making them interesting.

He found great joy in traveling and RVing across this beautiful country, reading, riding his motorcycle, boating, fishing, tinkering in the garage, talking politics, loving his beloved dogs, and relaxing while watching NASCAR and Formula 1 races. Scotty also treasured time spent with friends in New York, New Jersey, and in Washington State.

His family is especially grateful to the many friends who stayed in touch over the years and helped keep his spirits up.

While we are heartbroken by his passing, we are also incredibly grateful for the extra years we were given with him.

Rest easy, Dad. We love you always.

Sean, Gregory, and Darcy
