John T. Huntington

Mar 21, 1950 — Oct 22, 2026

John Thomas Huntington passed away on October 22nd, 2026, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, at the age of 76. John grew up in Wilmette, Illinois, where he also raised his three children. He had recently relocated to Pennsylvania from Northbrook, Illinois, to be closer to family.

John was predeceased by his mother, Mabel Anne (Hildebrand) Huntington; his father, John Lewis Huntington; and his oldest sister, Mary (Huntington) Lehner.

He is survived by his three loving children, Anne Grifo (Drew), William Huntington (Rebecca), and John David Huntington (Andrea); his seven grandchildren, Jane, Owen, Alice, Mason, Emma, Maggie and Johnny; and his sisters, Judy Huntington and Patricia (Huntington) Berry.

John attended New Trier Township High School in Winnetka, Illinois, where he played on the varsity basketball team. He went on to graduate from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, and earned his law degree from Illinois Institute of Technology’s Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Professionally, John was an accomplished attorney specializing in real estate and corporate law. During his career, he was a partner at Keck, Mahin & Cate and McBride, Baker & Coles (now part of Holland & Knight), and served as president of the Oak Brook Association of Commerce and Industry. In the later years of his career, he maintained his own private practice and worked alongside his father, assisting him with his real estate management company, John L. Huntington & Co. John was generous with his time and legal expertise, frequently helping friends and family members navigate their own legal needs.

Outside of work, John enjoyed golfing with friends and family in the Chicago suburbs. Occasionally, he would even make a par. He was also an avid reader, particularly of spy novels, and had a deep love of vinyl records. His family will forever think of him whenever they hear the music of Bruce Hornsby, Tom Petty, and the Traveling Wilburys.
