John Elicker, MD

John Edward Elicker, MD passed away on December 15, 2020, due to complications from Covid-19.

Known as Jack, he was born in 1930 to the late Elizabeth Gray and C. Robert Elicker, MD of Pottstown, PA. He was educated at the Hill School and received his B.A. from Williams College and MD from Jefferson Medical College.

Jack was a dedicated and compassionate physician. He was a founding physician of the Bryn Mawr Hospital Emergency Department in Bryn Mawr, PA. He retired after 38 years of service, having served 21 years as Chief of the Emergency Department. He also served as Director of the Medical Department for Clifton Precision Products, Division of Litton Industries for 29 years and Director of Medicine for Broomall Presbyterian Home for 13 years. Following his retirement from Bryn Mawr Hospital in 2000, Jack volunteered at Community Volunteers in Medicine in West Chester, PA.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany.

Jack was an avid golfer and sports fan. He was a longtime member at Overbrook Golf Club in Villanova, PA, where he will be greatly missed. He was gregarious and a gifted storyteller, and was happiest when in the company of his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Carelli Elicker, and her son, William Cassidy, and his three surviving children from his former wife, Dorothy Fox Elicker: John Elicker Jr. (Julianne), Kathleen Hoffman, and Elizabeth Elicker. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lucy Stanovick (John), and brother C. Robert Elicker Jr. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and a great grandson: John Elicker III (Lauren) and son John Elicker IV, Eric Elicker, Anne Salvitti (Andrew), Kelly Hoffman, Josephine Hoffman, Nicholas Stanovick, Kathleen Stanovick, Benjamin Shea, and nephew, C. Robert Elicker III (Kathleen).

The family sends deep appreciation to the staff of Main Line Health HomeCare & Hospice, as well as the gifted nursing staff and physicians at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
