John P. Doran Jr., affectionately known as Jack, of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 7th, 2026 surrounded by those who loved him most.
Born on September 2, 1953, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Jack was the beloved son of the late John P. Doran and Estelle (née Sicoli) Doran. He carried deep love and respect for his parents throughout his life.
Jack is survived by his devoted companion, Lorie O’Neill; his children, Tony Doran, Renee Doran, and Jeremy Ford; and his daughters-in-law, Kath Doran and Candace Ford. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Owen Doran, Casey Doran, Cody Doran, Cole Thomas, Ava Thomas, Kane Hilton, Layla Ford, and Quintin Ford, each of whom was a source of tremendous joy and pride.
He is also survived by his sister, Judy Spry, and brother, Terry Doran; his brother-in-law, Joe Spry; sister-in-law, Patti Doran; and nieces and nephews Katie, Jamie, Patrick, Pat and Chris, all of whom will miss him dearly.
A great cook, Jack was well known for his linguini with clam sauce and his legendary, one-of-a-kind grilled hot wings, staples at gatherings with family and friends. He had a lifelong love of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, a passion that followed him well into adulthood, and a deep admiration for Cadillac cars, which perfectly reflected his classic style.
Jack also enjoyed spending time on the golf course, where he found both relaxation and camaraderie, and of course a beer or two. He had a creative side and loved photography, often capturing moments and memories with friends and family through his lens.
Win or lose, Jack was fiercely loyal to Philadelphia sports, proudly serving as a loud and passionate supporter of the Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers. He also enjoyed target shooting and took great pride in building his firearm collection.
Above all, Jack will be remembered for his strong spirit, his principled debates, and his love for his family and friends. He left a lasting impression on all who knew him and will be deeply missed. Jack's absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His passion and intensity will live on in their hearts, in the taste of linguini and clam sauce, the roar of a Harley, and the cheer for a Philadelphia sports team. Jack’s love will continue to echo in the laughter and stories shared, as they remember a life well-lived.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 19th, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at St. Anthony’s Lodge, Downingtown, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA in Jack’s memory.
