Dr. John Francis Coffey, of St. Davids, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on the morning of February 10, 2022. Dr. Coffey served as a physician in the Philadelphia area for over 40 years.
Dr. Coffey was born in London, England on November 5,1937. He earned his medical degree from University College London and practiced medicine in London before completing a nephrology fellowship at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Following this he engaged in a research fellowship at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Then, in 1974, he moved with his family to the Philadelphia area where he practiced nephrology and general medicine until retiring in 2007.

Dr. Coffey was a voracious learner, reader and intellectual, as well as an artist. He was the author of multiple stories and he published two books, Tim and Nothing and Sylvia Meyer, M.D. But above all, he enjoyed nothing more than having his four grandsons together at his home on a Sunday morning discussing their lives, world events, and history, while enjoying a cup of tea.
Dr. Coffey is survived by his wife and two daughters, Justine Kate Coffey (Jim) and Marion Jane Brewington (Vance), and his four Grandsons, Ethan, Jake, Ryan and Brooks.
