Westtown

Joanne Eileen Woutersz (née Mazziotti), a beacon of kindness, grace, and dedication, passed peacefully in her sleep on March 29, 2026. Born on October 8, 1933, in Blairsville, Pennsylvania to her parents, John and Josephine Mazziotti (née Kovacic). Joanne's journey was marked by a profound commitment to her family and the countless lives she touched along the way.

A graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1954, Joanne carved a distinguished path in the field of nursing. Her career culminated with her role as Head OR Nurse at the Pennsylvania Hospital of Philadelphia, where her compassion and expertise excelled.

Joanne is predeceased by her late husband, Dr.Theodore Bruce Woutersz, whom she met while both working at the Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg. The two were married on July 12, 1958, and from there were together forty years enduring a steadfast partnership, a testament to a love both deep and true.

Joanne was known as the kindest woman with the sweetest soul. And she extended her generous, sweet spirit through volunteer service at Lankenau Hospital with the program Friends of Children.

Joanne's life was a beautiful quilt pieced together with the warmth of family, friends, love and the joy of shared moments. Her true passion was creating a home of comfort and creativity, where impeccable quilting, beautiful gardening, gourmet cooking, and extensive reading flourished as expressions of her tender care and vibrant intellect. Whether it be lunches with her Book Club or fabric hunting in Lancaster County, she nurtured friendships that enriched her days with laughter and thoughtful conversation. She was a gracious companion to her peers, and Joanne's presence was a gift to all who knew her.

Among Joanne’s most treasured moments were times spent vacationing in the serene mountains of Perry County and on the relaxing beaches of Avalon with her children and grandchildren. These gatherings created precious memories that spoke of her deep love for family and the joy she found in their company.

Joanne is survived by her devoted children Lisa, John (Monica), Robert, Susan and Michael, her loving grandchildren John, Matthew (Caroline), Robert (Nicole), Thomas (Alexa), great granddaughter Chloe, and great grandson who is soon to be welcomed.

She is predeceased by her sister Joyce Mazziotti and grandson Patrick Canavan.
