(Mary) Joan Giovanni nee Buchanan passed away at home the morning of April 19th due to natural causes.
She died peacefully under the devoted care of her husband; John Joseph Giovanni Sr..
Mrs. Giovanni wanted nothing more in life than to be a devoted wife and exemplary mother.
She nurtured a loving and respected household during her 61 short years of marriage and parenthood, fulfilling that dream.
Her children John (Junior), Gregory, David, and Mary Kate Giovanni mourn her loss and wish to echo that their mother's kindness and love have shaped their lives. Joan's doted-on grandchildren, Erica Campbell (Ferrero) and John Giovanni, III, Kathryn and Mary Elizabeth (M.E.) Schulze, Julia and Alyssa Giovanni, and, even the too young to remember, great grandchild, Logan Campbell will reminisce, continuing to tell stories of her sweetness, humor, and generosity.
Joan (sometimes jokingly referred to by her offspring as ‘Mommy Dearest', ‘The Big Lady', or simply ‘JOAN!') ruled her roost with a gentle but firm hand, guiding her children with stories of her youth and lessons from the Catholic doctrine. Her reputation as the family's ‘straight man' is legendary: She would set up the jokes for a family of comedians. Someone would deliver the punch line.
Joan Giovanni suffered the peals of laughter with a gracious smile and a tiny eye roll; always stating, "You will miss me when I'm gone."
Nothing could be truer.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to charity of your choice in Joan's memory would be appreciated.
