Joan D'Aleo

Joan C. D’Aleo, age 78, of Wayne, PA, passed away on December 4, 2019. Born in 1941 to the late James & Emily Smillie. Joan was the beloved wife of the late Edmund E. DePaul and the late Francis B. D’Aleo, loving mother of Enrico DePaul, Victoria Netreba (Jonathan) & Max DePaul, adoring grandmother of Samuel Andrews, Zoe DePaul & Ona Netreba, dear sister of James Smillie and beloved owner/mama of Levi the Chocolate Lab.

After working the City Desk at The Philadelphia Daily News, Joan worked as a political speech writer, combining her passion for reading & writing with her love of rhetoric. She loved talking politics, especially local politics. Joan was a devoted wife, caring mother & very loving grandmother. She loved her family and friends. She loved classical music and the arts.

Relatives & friends are invited to her Visitation, 10:00-11:00 AM, on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 366 W. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne, PA 19087 followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
