Jim "Doc" Snyder

January 8, 1943 — April 30, 2024

Bryn Mawr, PA and Naples, FL

Leonard James Snyder

Jim "Doc" Snyder passed peacefully on April 30, 2024 at the age of 81.

He is survived by his beloved wife Linda R. Snyder, loving children Jeffrey J. Snyder (Kristy), Douglas S. Snyder, (Brittany), Gregory M. Snyder (Carrie), and Andrea L. Meehan (Jack), his adoring grandchildren, Kennedy and Nathaniel Snyder, William, Charles, and Benjamin Snyder, and Riley, Austin, and Connor Meehan, and by his brother, Thomas E. Snyder.

Jim was born January 8th, 1943 in Bethlehem, PA to Leonard and Catherine Snyder. His father worked at Bethlehem Steel, and taught Jim the value of hard work at a young age. Jim attended Notre Dame High School and then graduated from Moravian University as a member of the Dean’s List and TKE fraternity. From there, he went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry, where he graduated as part of the OKU National Honor Society, and the Cryer Honor Society, which includes only the top 10 students in the graduating class.

Jim served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970 as part of the Support Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.

Jim was the founder of Main Line Family Dentistry, where he practiced for over 40 years. He was a member of many dental societies including Chester-Delaware Dental Society, Main-Line Dental Society, and the Stomatological Club.

He met the love of his life, Linda, during his early years as a dentist, and they married in 1975. They then worked side by side for 40+ years, growing the practice to one of the most prominent in the Main Line.

Doc was an avid golfer, belonging to Overbrook Golf Club (OGC), Stonewall, and Hideout Golf Club, and also took countless golf trips with either Linda, his kids, or his ‘boys’. He loved more than anything his time at OGC, where he served on the Board of Directors and was head of the Admissions Committee. He spent many a day on the golf course there, but his favorite part of those days was spent in “the back room” where he built many life long friendships with members and staff.

Jim was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, nature, animals, and photography.

Jim had a unique and special connection with each of his four children that he loved very much.  He spoke often to his friends about their personal and professional achievements in life, and treasured the time he spent with their families.

Jim and Linda shared a beautiful marriage of 49 years.  It was evident to all who knew them that they complimented each other as a couple unconditionally, and were truly devoted to one another in every way possible.
