Jerry Mac Sutton

Jerry Mac Sutton, 82, of Downingtown PA, passed away peacefully, on March 13, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Born on Christmas Day in 1940, he was the son of Garland and Pauline (née Lewis) Sutton in Jackson TN.

After graduating from Central High School in 1959, he went on to study at Memphis State University.  After college, he joined the military as a Marine from 1958-1962.

In 1971, he met Barbara Jean Lackey and her 4 children, George Ragsdale, Tammy Lynn, Terry Ann, and Teresa Darlene.  They were wed soon after, going on to have 3 more children, Pamela Jean, Garland Piercy, and James Woodrow. They were happily married for 42 years until her passing in 2014.

Jerry’s life was a story worthy of a motion picture.  From tragedy to triumph to true love all while giving back to the world the untangled necessities that come from genuine friendship. He was a Golden Gloves boxer, an entertainer, a promoter, and a Salesman Extraordinaire.  He was authentically himself without apology or regret.

His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was a loving father, a loyal husband, a doting grandfather, and a friend to many. He was unendingly proud of keeping his family together through thick and thin, while always doing his best to support them.  He was a force of nature, not unlike the wind.

Jerry was predeceased by his wife Barbara; his brothers Henry, Bonny, Tex, Paul, and Steve; and his sister Francis Anabtawi.

He is survived by his brother, Cecil; his sisters, Joyce Price and Judy Baker; his 7 children; 15 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and countless nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Friday, March 17, 2023 at the Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester PA followed by his Funeral Service 1:00 PM.  Interment Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, where he will rest beside his beloved Barbara.
