Jennie F. Cook, born on December 4, 1946, in Southwest Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025. She lived a rich and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Jean was a dedicated professional, enjoying a long and successful career at General Electric (GE). Her commitment and work ethic were hallmarks of her character, earning her the respect of colleagues and peers alike. A proud graduate of Bartram High School in 1964, Jean carried the values of hard work and dedication throughout her life.
Beyond her professional achievements, Jean was a passionate sports fan, especially devoted to the Philadelphia Phillies. She found joy in many activities, reveling in the thrill of Bingo nights, the melodic tunes of her favorite music, and cherished moments with friends. A vibrant member of her community, she was involved with the Red Hat Society, reflecting her spirit and zest for life.
Jean's independence set her apart; she was always the go-to person for anything and was unwavering in her willingness to help others. Her family held a special place in her heart, particularly her beloved grandchildren, Meaghan Farley and Maureen Farley-Miller (Joe), to whom she loved to boast about endlessly. Her deep love for family was matched only by her loyalty as a friend, always putting their needs ahead of her own.
Jean found comfort in the companionship of dogs, especially German Shepherds, and enjoyed leisurely drives, crocheting, and trips to the casino. Each of these pursuits brought her happiness and connected her with those she loved.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Farley (Dan), who continues to carry forth Jean's legacy of love and devotion. Sisters Margaret Bell and Carol Muglie (Joe) are also left to remember her strong spirit, alongside many nieces and nephews who were fortunate enough to have shared in her life.
Jean's departure leaves an indelible void, felt deeply by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Carolyn (Nee Dowling) Cook, and siblings Florence Johnson, Dorothy Mullin, Paul Cook, and Jack Cook.
Visitation will be held on December 30, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the Donohue Funeral Home in Upper Darby, PA. In celebration of her remarkable life, we invite all who knew and loved Jean to gather and share in the memories of a truly wonderful woman.
