Janet Mary Heller (nee Boles), age 87, of Newark, DE, formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on May 5, 2026. Born in 1938, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene Boles (nee Clark).
Janet’s life was marked by a steadfast commitment to caring for others and a rich tapestry of personal joys that defined her character and spirit. A graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, Janet devoted many years to nursing, with a particular passion for aiding sick children. Her vocation was not merely a career but a calling, one answered with a heart full of kindness and a hands-on approach that brought comfort and hope to countless young lives.
Janet’s life outside her profession was no less filled with love and vitality. She shared an extraordinary 59 years of marriage — a partnership of true companionship and mutual respect, doing everything in unison with her husband. Their shared devotion extended beyond the home into their many adventures together. Traveling was a cherished pastime, broadening horizons and weaving beautiful memories. The years spent in North Wildwood held a special place in her heart, where she found joy and relaxation by the shore, surrounded by family and friends.
Her Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her existence. As active churchgoers, Janet and her beloved husband were regular members of their Parish, living their values through service and prayer.
Janet was the beloved wife of the late Frank Heller; loving mother of Janet Waldron (Francis), Karen Slater (John), Frank Heller (Christine), Steven Heller (Stephanie), and Daniel Heller (Bethany); adoring “Oma” of John and Erin Slater, Patrick Foster, Emily, Kaitlyn, Tess, and Liam Heller, Meredith and Bryan Vogel, and Sean, Ryan, Kyra, and Kevin Waldron; caring sister of the late Irene Quindlen and Eleanor Nichols.
