Janet Julia Alioto

Aug 19, 1947 — Oct 15, 2026

Janet Julia Alioto, 79, of West Chester, PA, passed away on October 15, 2026.

Born August 19, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Marie (Atene) Mattia.

Janet attended Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School in Drexel Hill and later graduated cum laude from Temple University in 1972. Throughout her life, she embraced both her family and her career, balancing the joys and responsibilities of motherhood with a successful professional life. She retired in 2016 from Moody’s Analytics as Chief Client Officer, a role she held with distinction, choosing to begin a new chapter centered on family with the arrival of her first granddaughter.

Above all, Janet was a devoted wife, a loving and caring mother, and a generous, adoring grandmother. She shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Ron, building a life filled with love, laughter, family traditions, and cherished memories. As a mother, Janet was always a source of love, encouragement, and support to her sons. Their friends were always welcome in her home, where there was room for one more at the table, something good to eat, and the comfort of being treated like family. Her home was a gathering place, and her warmth and generosity made everyone feel welcome.

Becoming a grandmother brought Janet immeasurable joy. Affectionately known as Mimi, she delighted in spoiling her three grandchildren, especially when it came to shopping for them. Finding the perfect gift and seeing their bright smiles on every occasion brought her happiness. Her love for Olivia, Emilia, and Mikah was boundless, and she treasured every opportunity to make them feel special and loved.

Janet had a love for travel and adventure that began during her college years, when she spent a semester living in Spain. She continued to enjoy traveling abroad with friends throughout her life, creating lasting memories along the way. Some of her happiest times, however, were spent closer to home, summering with her family in Sea Isle City and Ocean City, NJ. These summers, filled with time together and the simple pleasures of being by the shore, remained among her most treasured memories.

Janet will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her generous spirit, her love of shopping for those she held dear, and the way she made people feel at home in her presence. Her greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely to her husband, sons, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Janet was the beloved wife of Ronald C. Alioto; loving mother of Christopher Alioto (Laurie) and Matthew Alioto; proud Mimi of Olivia, Emilia, and Mikah; and dear sister-in-law of Gail Mattia. She was predeceased by her brother, Vincent, and sister, Mary Ann.

A memorial service will be at 11 am on Wednesday, 10/21 at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery (1600 Sproul Road, Springfield, PA 19064).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1818 Market St., Suite 2820, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
