Jana Lou Johnson

December 4, 1942 — February 6, 2024

Jana Lou Johnson, 81 of Wayne, PA, passed away February 6, 2024.  Born December 4, 1942 in Coldwater, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Myron and Margaret (nee Brown) Grosky.

Jana was the beloved wife of Robert Hugh Johnson, loving mother of Shellie Johnson (Daniel Kaminski), Trisha Macdonald (Peter) and Hugh Johnson (Sarah), adoring grandmother of Walter and Edith Johnson and Beatrice and Louisa Macdonald, and dear sister of Karen Leisinger.

An ardent outdoor enthusiast, Jana loved being in the woods and on the water.  She was happiest swimming across a lake, cross country skiing through an open meadow and taking her dogs on a long walk down a country lane. She was always up for a new sporting adventure whether it was windsurfing, sculling, roller blading or pickleball.

Jana was an avid gardener.  As Jana moved with her family from the Detroit area, to Texas and then to the Chicago area, she transformed their homes by creating beautiful outdoor living spaces full of unique flowers, shrubs and trees.  One of her greatest joys was giving tours of her garden to visitors.

Jana will be well remembered for her generosity of spirit, her sense of style, her beautiful smile and her ability to light up a room and a dance floor.

A service celebrating Jana’s life will be announced at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Village Treasure House, 1460 Paddock Drive, Northbrook, IL 60062 (villagetreasurehouse.org), a charity serving families in need, where Jana volunteered while living in the Chicago area.
