James “Jim” Joseph Schwegel, 75, of West Chester, PA, passed away April 16, 2026.
Born December 2, 1950 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Harry and Amelia (nee Bricka) Schwegel.
Jim was a proud graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, Class of 1968. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from La Salle University in 1972 and later completed his Master of Science in Taxation at Widener University in May 1986. Early in his career, he achieved his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and began his work in public accounting with KPMG. He later moved into the plastics industry, where he built a trusted circle of coworkers through many joint ventures—relationships that, over time, became like family—and where he proudly finished his career.
Jim had a sense of humor like no other—quick with a joke and always ready to make people laugh. True to his practical nature, he also loved organizing life with his spreadsheets and took great pride in making sure his family was always taken care of. A devoted sports fan, he never missed a Philadelphia Eagles game and was an avid Phillies supporter. He loved golfing with his friends, especially when he could share a round with his son-in-law and grandson. Above all, he cherished time in Ocean City, New Jersey, where he was happiest on the beach and in the waves with his kids, and later with his grandkids. Beyond his own family, Jim was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed help.
Jim was the beloved husband of Kathleen Ann (nee Repnicki) Schwegel for 53 years; loving father of Jennifer Perry (Jared) and Stacy Jefferson (Jeremy); and adoring Pop-Pop of Claire, Elise, Elijah, and Vera. He was also a wonderful uncle and great-uncle to his many nieces and nephews, a loving brother-in-law, and a cherished friend to so many. He was predeceased by his sister, Anne Grow.
Family and friends are invited to his Visitation, 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM, Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Saints Simon and Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct., West Chester, PA 19382, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment is private. All are welcome to attend a celebration luncheon at Penn Oaks Golf Club, 150 Penn Oaks Dr, West Chester, PA 19382, to follow from 12:30 PM to 3 PM.
