James J. Rafferty

Jim Rafferty passed away suddenly but peacefully on April 29, 2025, at his home in West Chester PA. Jim grew up in Springfield, PA and Broomall, PA graduating from Cardinal O’Hara High School in 1974 and from Penn State University in 1979.

Jim was loved and admired by everyone he met. He was a wealth of knowledge and mechanically gifted in many areas. He was always willing to help anyone at any time. Jim was a kind man who would do anything for his family and friends. He worked hard for years in the family business, Butler Oil, most recently with McLoughlin's HVAC where he was a loyal and well respected employee for over 13 years. He was also a dedicated vocational instructor at Delaware County Community College for many years.

Jim is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Betty Ann) Rafferty; predeceased by his father, Vincent J. Rafferty. Jim leaves behind his loving spouse, Karen Baumeister, daughter, Lorie Schwartz, (Rob), dear grandson, Luke, the apple of his eye, son, Michael Rafferty (Amanda), siblings, Joseph (Elizabeth) Rafferty, Vincent (Becky) Rafferty, Paul (Mary) Rafferty, Robert (Melissa) Rafferty, Nellie Mingey, Elizabeth Rafferty, Michael (Maura) Rafferty, and Patricia (Andy) Gresham, 37 nieces and nephews, and 18 great nieces and nephews as well as many extended family members.

Visitation will be on Tuesday May 6, 2025 at St. Anastasia Church in Newtown Square PA from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, Mass follows at 10:30 AM. Interment at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
